I feel the replacement part pricing scheme is a rip off. I was advised to replace a capacitor for $125. After working in electronics for 18 years I thought this was excessive. I just purchased the capacitor for $3.94. Last time a different tech came to the house and recommended replacing a relay that cost was $540. He left the old part laying on the step and I googled it, price was $32. I've come to the conclusion technicians are encouraged to push overpriced replacement parts and that they must get a commission on these parts. Why is the markup so high? I feel my inspection was thorough, really thorough, but with an ulterior motive in mind, the fleecing of the customer. This comment is not directed toward the technician but more toward the management. I've decided to switch to my old company. I feel they were above board in pricing.
