expensive but good work

I purchased a 'deal' from Angie's list for $49. for $179. worth of work. I had one overhead wall sconce removed and installed two wall sconces on either side of a mirror. The work was done quickly and cleanly although I would have liked to have a blank coverplate over the abandoned junction box from the removed fixture. (wires are exposed - It is covered by the mirror but I would have preferred it to be sealed off ) my main problem is the fact that when I purchased the service there was no way to know how much the $179. would cover. When electramedics arrived to install the fixtures an additional $245. was added. (I was given this information before the work was started and I felt I had to approve it or lose the $49. already spent) It took about 1 1/2 hrs to do the work. I felt that $424. was excessive. My problem is more with Angie's list than Electramedics. Felt like a bate 'n' switch.

I first thought when they arrived, that they would fix the problem, and not recommend a completely new circuit box. I had called for a light switch that needed a new swtiche and that was never fixed. I was charged a 119.00 for a service call to tell me that I need a whole new circuit box. So, I received a 119.00 estimate and the light swtich that I called about was still not fixed nor working when they left. This was robbery to me. The installation of the swtich should have been done even though I was told I needed a new circuit. Will not be using this company again.
