Good service, but....

I just had my annual servicing on my AC unit within the last couple of months. At that time there was one part that was "needing to be replaced soon". Why two months later did hte entire machine crap out? DEAD and FRIED parts, cost me $800+ to fix! Seems to me this should have been caught BEFORE it died in 95 degree weather. Yes? (Also, you guys never get my name right... it's not Cathy, it's Kathy, and my last name is wrong too. Sigh.)

The technician was knowledgeable and fair & mentioned a 3 year contract for a discount price so we excepted that. The first service is done and starts now. Thanks We would recommend this company

Upon arrival find unit buzzing, find capacitor has failed on hermetic and fan sides. Replaced with turbo 200, 35/5, checked fan motor amps and reading 1 amp. Compressor reading 8 amps. Registers are open and have airflow. Registers reading 64 degrees. Home is very hot, told Julie it is going to take quite a long time to cool down the home, homeowner understands why and what to do to try to cool down home as fast as possible. Unit cooling and functional upon departure.

Customer reports no cooling. Air would come out of vent but outdoor unit was not working Put out a call for cool and I could hear compressor come on but fan was not spinning. Checked capacitor and it did have a full charge, checked contactor and it is In very poor shape with it being all blacked out and charred although it is in very poor condition it is still working and allowing power to flow into the unit Diagnosis is a failed fan motor Repairs would entail a new fan motor and with it a new capacitor, also due to very poor condition of contactor i suggest replacing that as well. Gave customer a breakdown of the repair cost Without club membership: Fan motor-$751 Capacitor-$319 Contactor-$253 Diagnostic-$99 Total: $1422.00 With club membership: Fan motor-$638 Capacitor-$298 Contactor-$201 Diagnostic-$60 Club membership: $192.00 3 maintenances 2 year parts warranty Priority service Total: $1389.00 Average lifespan for an AC is 15-20 years. Upon arrival the thermostat was calling for cool and the fan outside was on but the compressor was not turning on, find dual run cap has failed on the hermetic side. Replace capacitor with turbo 200. Contactor is pitted and losing voltage across contacts causing unit to not run as efficiently as possible. Replaced contactor. Inrush current on unit was reading 119 amps, recommended hard start kit to help with damaging inrush current, new inrush reading 68 amps. Condenser coil was extremely dirty, cleaned coil inside and out removing a lot of dust and debris while doing so. Checked the evaporator coil and was dry and clean. Blower wheel was clean as well. Good airflow from all registers that I could see inside the home. Let unit run for a total of 33 minutes with no issues. Registers reading 62 degrees with home reading 82 degrees. Compressor amps reading 9.9 and rated for 17, fan amps reading 1.1 and rated for 1.3. Unit cooling and functional upon departure.

Air Conditioner Maintenance • Cleaned AC • Vacuumed debris from condenser • Wash condenser coil • Torque Schrader cores • Tightened king valves • Check for refrigerant leaks at service valves • Clean filter grill • Replaced filter • Condenser fan motor amps1 Compressor amps 10 • Check contactor pads are burnt recommend replacement • Blower cap MFD 6.8 on 7.5 recommend replacement • Blower amps5.2 • Inspect coil Contactor is burnt, pitted and charred. Contactor is responsible for allowing power to pass into unit. When contractor pads are burnt, pitted and in poor condition it will eventually stop allowing electrical current to flow and air conditioner will not work. Blower capacitor is below intended operating capacity and starting to go bad. Low capacitor will cause the blower motor and circuit board to work harder and draw more amps, which will cause them to a fail prematurely. Recommend replacement of blower capacitor and contactor at this time.

Upon arrival found that they had an electrician out to disconnect power to the water heater because it was leaking from the hot line and grounding it out. Due to size of the water heater and the space provided we need to go with 30 gallon tall electrical made for manufactured home which I could not find one. Called manufacturer home board to see if we could put a regular 30 gallon electric in it and left message for them to call me back. Homeowner is very understanding and willing to wait until I can receive all correct information.

Ac maintenance: Change filter, brush grille: good Check and tighten king valves and schrader cores: yes Check capacitor: turbo Check contactor: mild pitting Check voltage on contactor: 239 Check fan motor: 1rated for1.10 Check compressor RLA: 8.1 rated for 12.2 Check compressor inrush current: 54 with hard start kit Clean leaves and debris from unit: yes Check and clean condenser coil in and out: yes Check supply temperature at registers:57 (83 in home) Check blower motor amps: 5.1 Current air conditioner uses r22 refrigerant. R22 has been phased out since 2010 and starting January 1, 2020 it will not longer be made nor able to import into the United States. Average lifespan for an Air conditioner is 15-20 years. This current AC is 17 years old which puts it over its lifespan and in prime position for major component failure to occur. Suggest replacing Air conditioner. Signed homeowner up for Ac maintenance.

Going to build the estimate for standard efficiency units, ML-180 furnace and a ML14XC1 air conditioner. Have all the information needed. The customer had too much stuff on top of the crawl access and was unable to move for inspection of the duct system. I did suggest upsizing the return from a 14’’ to atleast a 16’’ for better airflow. He informed me that he is waiting to hear back from his insurance company but they are taking to long to get back to him to let him know what they would do to help. I let him know that we do not work with insurance companies at all and he would have to pay us to move forward. He was not looking to make a decision today he’s waiting till he hears back from the insurance company. He was also interested in financing options.

Ac diagnostic. Arrive and homeowner states that she believes the whole house went through a power surge. She saw the tv turn off and then the ac stopped working. Concerned to hurt equipment so called us out before resting breaker. Findings: Today I find the circuit breaker to be in the blown position. I cycle the unit back on at the circuit breaker while instructing the homeowner how to do so. If the power surge did actually happen then there is a strong chance this blew the breaker. After cycling the unit on I took an amp draw of 11A, Rates load amperage is 12A, due to extreme 90 degree heat load in the home it is to be expected to have high amperage draw at this time. If the ac does this hint again highly suggest to reset circuit breaker before having us come out or we will have to charge a circuit breaker resetting fee. No abnormal measurements taken besides indoor temperature. Temperature drop of 87 to 58F Compressor amperage after running for 15 minutes: 10.4A Outdoor fan ampe

Customer said furnace would not shut down. Upon arrival the furnace was off. Customer said she always had is with thermostat. Jumped unit out at furnace and furnace was operational and shut down normally. Recommend to replace thermostat. Quoted 298$ for basic thermostat. Customer declined.
