Bay Area service person quoted me 2K for a “bad” compressor replacement. Or, 6K for a new system. Or 14k for a super great system! Very reasonable I thought. I thanked him and told him I would get another estimate and compare the two. The next serviceman from a much smaller company showed up in an old van that was probably paid off 10 years ago and needed a good wash. Anyway, don’t judge a book right? Young guy actually. He looked at the unit, did some tests and said, “there is a wiring problem. You need a new harness and I think I can get this compressor going.” He went back to his van, got a new harness and installed it. Bam. Done. $188.00 and he was on his way to the next happy customer. Incredibly important to get at least 2 estimates.
