Pkg clean and tune. Checked indoor coil with refrigerant sniffer. Found indications of a leak on the coil. Cleared drain line and replaced filter. Cycled system. Checked and cleaned electrical compartment. Tested compressor and fan motor, both tested low on megohmeter. Capacitor is ok. Contactor is rusting. Used coil cleaner on condenser coil. Hooked up gauges and tested pressures and temps. Found system low on R-22 charge. System is about a pound low. Indoor split was at 11 degrees. Due to age, condition, and cost to repair, second opinion is recommended. Cycled furnace. Checked heat exchanger, ok. Checked and cleaned burners and flame sensor. Both ok. Checked igniter, ok. Tightened electrical connections and clamps. Checked gas pressures and adjusted to maximize efficiency. Checked for CO and XS air levels in exhaust, both in normal range. No CO found in airstream. System operating normal at this time. Job complete. No payment at this time pending results of second opinion.
