Ac clean and tune. No cool. Cycled system. Furnace fan kicked on, but not condenser fan or compressor. Opened electrical compartment. Tested capacitor. Found capacitor has failed and is below tolerance. Replaced with new 35/5 capacitor. Cycled system. Condenser fan and compressor fired. Used coil cleaner on condenser coil. Hooked up gauges and checked pressures and temps. Found indoor coil at 38 degrees, subcooling was 8, indoor temp split was only 12. Checked indoor coil with refrigerant sniffer. Found indications of a leak forming on indoor coil. Tested compressor and fan motor. Compressor tested ok. Fan motor tested low, but still in the normal range. Average life expectancy for this unit is 14 years. This system exceeds this expectancy, and unit is very worn. Future failure is expected. Second opinion is recommended. Job complete.
