The company answered my urgent call and scheduled an appointment immediately after I explained my situation. The technician, Kyle, was absolutely fabulous. We had a sink which overflowed, pouring a river of water into the floor supply vent, through the basement ceiling vents, all the way down to the furnace unit. Ugh! Kyle was extremely thorough in evaluating the evidence of water damage, observing and documenting the debris that flowed down with the water (OY!), comparing the affected vents, ducts and trunk line to the unaffected ones, and making appropriate recommendations of remediation steps that should be taken now, as well as potential problems which we should be alert to in the future. I felt well-informed and confident after Kyle's inspection and instruction on these issues.
Our home is new to us, having relocated from a different part of the country (with different HVAC needs). The rep was well within the scheduling window and called 20 minutes ahead of time to let me know he was on the way. Blue Ox's representative, Kyle, conducted a thorough assessment of our air conditioner and air exchange system. Before doing so, however, Kyle spent time explaining what he was going to be looking at and for, and how he was going to conduct the assessment. We knew our AC was old (35+ years, original with the house!!) and was on it's last legs, nonetheless, during and after Kyle's assessment, Kyle brought key (removable) pieces of the unit inside to show me in detail how extensive the damage was to the unit. He also highlighted to what extent the unit was cooling efficiently (*not*!) and fact the unit was placed directly in front of the dryer vent, blowing gunk into the works! Kyle spent time showing me how the air-exchange unit worked, how to remove and clean the filters and explained the operation and pros and cons of the dehumidifying feature of the air exchange unit. Kyle also answered all of my questions about whether or not it was advisable to add a whole house humidifier, the approximate cost of such a unit and how that unit would interplay with the air exchanger/dehumidifier. When Kyle was finished, he thoroughly explained the results of his inspection and broke down the pricing on how much repair of the AC unit would be. Since we had already decided that we would very likely replace the unit, Kyle offered to facilitate someone to come out to discuss the options and costs for a replacement unit. Because we have an annual contract with Benjamin Franklin/Blue Ox, there was no cost to this appointment. Kyle was here for 2 1/2 hours and when he left, I was so much more knowledgeable about our home, our system and the priorities of which repairs or replacements should take priority. If I had not had so many questions, Kyle's work would have been done much sooner - but I was so appreciative of the detailed answers and explanations that Kyle provided, so that I could really understand what was happening. Throughout the appointment, Kyle was professional, professional, professional!!
