checked water softener outside and found the bypass on and not going through the softener. Tested water with softener off and the system was at 18 grains of hardness per gallon. Turned softener on and tested water and it was 12 grains of hardness per gallon. Softner is working but needs to be cleaned out and refilled because salt sitting in it and probably from not being used for a extended period of time. The system started overflowing because it was not draining properly and ports were blocked up from the salt .
