Customer called for no air conditioning. Upon inspection I found the compressor not coming on but it was trying to start. Tested the 45+5 capacitor and was getting 43mfd which tells me it’s good. Tested the amp draw for the compressor and was getting 71A when rated to have locked rotor at 77A. Installed a hard start kit to try and get the compressor started. Due to the amount of low refrigerant last year it’s likely to have worn the compressor to where it needs extra help to start. Once hard start kit was installed the system started just fine. Was getting 5.7A with the kit. Rated load amps are 14.1A. 5.7A is a good reading for normal operation. Once started I checked the temperature split and was getting 19° differential. System operating pressures were at 126/335 with a subcooling of 8°. Replaced the customer supplied Merv 11 16x25x5 due to it being a year old. Checked drain and condensate pump for any issues.
