Upon arrival I shut the gas and water off to the existing hot water heater. I drained the hot water heater and cut it out. Replaced the 50 gal tall hot water heater with a 40 gal short per homeowners request. Existing flue pipe was falling apart. Replaced the existing flue pipe with hard 3 inch pipe. Connected all copper piping using 3/4 pro press fittings. Tested the system for gas and water leaks. The system is operating properly at this time.
