Today I came to Cindy and Brian’s Chestermere home to perform an annual furnace tune up. Upon inspection and tune up of the 17 year old system I tested and adjusted gas valve, burners, gas pressure and temperature rise. Pulled and cleaned the flame sensor. Tested ignition system, inducing motor and assembly, blower motor and assembly, heat exchanger, humidifier, static pressures, all safety switches and control board. Furnace is in fair to poor condition. The control board, safety switches, gas valve and flame sensor are all working well within manufacturers specifications. The humidifier is of good quality and is working well. The inducing / exhaust fan has advanced bearing ware and is far over amperage. This indicates impending failure. The blower motor has over heated at least once and the internal grease pack has popped and spilled. This is like running a car with no oil and will result in failure. The ignition system has a low resistance reading and has 15% life remaining. The h
