Ian Holt was my tech on my recent yearly furnace tuneup. Ian was every bit timely and professional. He then showed me his findings. It was great to have this young man do a thorough checkup on the furnace. Ian is a very impressive young man as he was very courteous and very personable.

Furnace precision tune up; clean and tune up furnace; clean burners, test ignition components, adjust gas level, test safety circuit, check indoor motors, checked all electrical components, tested indoor air flow, checked heating temperatures, and tested overall furnace operation. Replaced flame sensor under warranty. Replacement is recommended due to age.
Furnace was not working when I arrived. Found a loose wire on the K terminal. Reattached wire and tested operation.

Recommended a blower wheel cleaning, surge protector and electronic air cleaner. Blower wheel in furnace is dirty reducing air flow/efficiency, pulled and cleaned blower wheel. Reassemble and tested operation. Other recommendations were declined at this time.

Homeowner has denied all recommendations at this time.

Replace furnace and air conditoner with 96% AFUE 2-Stage Variable-Speed Furnace and 16 SEER A/C. Terms: 50% down, balance due at completion of installation OR Approved Financing
Homeowner informed me that the furnace fan shut off this morning. Also stated he keeps the fan on and there were no error codes on furnace. Upon arrival, I checked thermostat. Thermostat was on and fan/ac setting was on. Inspected furnace. Furnace fan was running as it should. Checked static pressure, checked amp draw from furnace blower motor. Checked error history on thermostat. Thermostat showed a system reboot at 7:14am and 7:21am. Explained to homeowner that thermostat will reboot when it is updating, causing fan and ac to shut off for a moment.
Unit off upon arrival. Turned it on to test operation. System didn’t have a temperature differential. Hooked up refrigerant gauges to find system completely out of refrigerant. Lots of oil on condenser coil outside. System is from 1987 and not worth repairing due to age and cost to repair. System replacement would be the next step. Priced out two different options for replacement.
Ac was not operating upon arrival. After further diagnostics I found that the ac motor booster has failed, and therefore would not turn the compressor on to cool the house down. I replaced the motor booster for an upgraded version and then turned the system back on. Everything started up and then I proceeded with further diagnostics on the entire system. As of now everything is up and working just fine, however I do recommend looking into replacement simply due to the systems age.
