Arrived on site to diagnose a no cooling 1999 carrier unit. Client stated unit maybe original and he noticed recently unit stopped working and cooling home. Advised client I’d inspect and evaluate unit and full system. Advised the summary of findings are as followed. 1. 1999 carrier unit original to home. 2. Secondary motor control was completely bad. Would need to replace part to continue evaluation. System did Turn on. 3. Primary control was bad and burnt up as it’s original. 4. Fan motor is starting to seize up and has oil from past wear. 5. Compressor start up is high due to age. Run amps are in brave but high side. As compressor is on borrowed time. 6. Unit uses R-22 refrigerant Thats is no longer in production. Found unit below on charge and causing Compressor to work hard and why secondary motor is going out. 7. Inspected indoor unit. Unit is hanging in attic ducting is good. 8. Blower motor and wheel dirty. Motor is pulling 10.3 amps and max rated at 10.3. Advised
