Arrived on site to diagnose a unit that is shutting off and tripping breakers. Upon arrival spoke over withe client and she stated unit run but after a few minutes Ac breakers start to trip only for upstairs. Client cycled unit and unit turned on. Advised I would inspect unit. Found start up amps high and run amps where pulling at 22 amps and max is at 28 and advised on a hot summer day compressor is under more stress and could pull more or over max amps and trips breakers. Primary Starter is burnt up and pitted on contact. Secondary control is boarder line good and in range. Fan secondary control is good in range. Fan has been leaking a lot oil and and is Gunn a fail soon. Pressure did look in range but unit uses r22 and is no longer in production. Client stated another company came and did repairs adding booster kit and found out compressor booster kits where never added. Advised client compressor is bad and other unit could be in same condition if not getting to the same condition
