Performed diagnostic on 1 year old carrier system. Homeowner states system is not cooling. Blowing air but it is not cold. Cycled system for cooling. Indoor unit kicks on normally and is blowing air. Outdoor condenser is only kicking on the condenser fan motor, compressor is starting to turn on but it is not kicking on. Checked system electrical and components. Found a bad secondary motor control not allowing compressor to start. Condenser coil has a fairly big wet oily stain on bottom of coil. This can indicate that system developed a leak which could have caused compressor to be run hot and take out the secondary motor control. Went over findings and recommendations with homeowner. He just purchased the home, and wants to check that this isn’t covered under warranty through the builder or the contractor before he moves forward with any repairs. Shut system off, system is not operational upon departure.
