Arrived on site to perform diagnostic on 16 year old system. Homeowner states that system is not cooling. The indoor unit is blowing air, but outdoor unit fan is not spinning. Cycled system for cooling. Outdoor unit compressor turns on, but fan motor is not turning over. Checked system electrical components and found a dead secondary motor control. Spun fan manually to get it turned on and check the amp draws and refrigerant pressures. Amp draws on condenser fan motor are above rated maximum, and motor does have oil stains throughout which is causing the motor to work harder and drain the secondary motor control. Went over full findings and recommendations with homeowner. Homeowners are only at this home for a couple months out of the year, so they decided to move forward with repairs for now. Went ahead and replaced secondary motor control as well as condenser fan motor. Signed homeowners up on yearly ESA maintenance program. Cycled System, system is fully operational upon departure.
