Arrived on site to perform furnace maintenance on 17 year old package unit. Cycled system for heat. Verified proper heating sequence of operations. Temperature rise across heat exchanger is within range. Ran system through 20 point inspection checklist. Blower wheel is dirty. Indoor motor is starting to leak oil. Secondary motor control is in range. Evap coil is dirty as well. Removed panel and opened up unit top to inspect heat exchanger. Heat exchanger does have some hot spots in certain areas. No visible cracks at this time. System is very old and inefficient. Homeowner mentioned that his bills in the summer time sometime jump from 200 to 600 dollars because of the AC running. Went over findings and recommendations with homeowner. Went over the cost of repair and ownership to keep current system operating.
