Arrived on site to perform diagnostic on 2004 system. Homeowner states that system upstairs is not cooling. They have had issues last year with the condensation, but they noticed that it wasn’t blowing cold like it should since then. Whoever came out made a note that the system might be leaking, but never checked for an exact answer. System was in cooling mode, and has been running non stop for several days now. Checked outdoor unit electrical and system components. Fan is running, compressor is not. System was on thermal lockout due to it over heating from running nonstop. Watered down compressor. Was able to get compressor to turn on enough to verify that refrigerant levels are low, and unit is close to being flat. Compressor turns on and off and is starting to give out, primarily due to it running for so long with low refrigerant. Because refrigerant levels are near flat, it is obvious that system has a leak in refrigerant cycle. Went over findings and recommendations with homeow
