Clients report that their system stopped working a day or so ago. Blowing non-cold air. Met with the homeowner's parents at the visit. Findings: (1) Turned on the AC system and found the indoor motor turn on. (2) The filter is extremely dirty. Very little amounts of air can come through the filter and this can lead to a decrease in performance, or even failure. (3) Found that the outdoor unit only had the outdoor fan on. (4) The compressor is inoperable. (5) The condenser fan motor is over amping during operation. (6) The battery cap, or capacitor, is out of range and not providing enough energy to the motors. (7) Ohmed out the compressor. The internal windings of the compressor are good. (8) Installed a new battery cap and tried the system. The compressor did not turn on and the motor is in locked rotor. (9) Next, installed an easy start kit (these help turn on compressors that get locked rotor). The compressor attempted to turn on but did not successfully start. (10) All courses
