Customer called in with a leak at their water meter. Arrived on site and inspected the issue. There is a water meter vault located at the curb along with the rest of the incoming utilities. The meter vault is full to the top with water. The city has been out to the site and pumped the vault down, they let the customer know the leak was on their side of the meter and did not specify any other information. Provided pricing to perform de-water of the box in an attempt to locate the source of the leak. The customer approved the pricing. Used a sump pump to empty the meter vault. Was able to confirm that the leak does appear to be coming from the outlet side of the meter vault. The piping is not visible, but there is a steady flow of water coming from the ground on the outlet side of the vault. This flow stops when the meter is turned off. Provided the customer with pricing to excavate the area with a vacuum truck to expose the water service. This type of excavation is the only safe
