When I arrived found circulator pump running and boiler firing, could also hear air in the lines. Homeowner has 5 zones all on zone valves. When I disconnect t stat wire from boiler it would stop everything. Found 4 older t 87 thermostats,and one slightly newer electronic thermostat. Disconnected all thermostats from wall and still continued to run. Issue is somewhere over at the zone valves, they are not very accessible. Homeowner just wanted to purge air out for now and shut off breaker. Purged air out of lines and re filled boiler to 12 psi.
