Performed Precision Heating Tune Up on Lennox Heat Pump system. Replaced 20x20x1 Air Filter. Inspected electrical components on indoor and outdoor units. Put system into operation to test heating and outdoor unit was going out in a Short Cycling Error Code. Cycled system and unit would revert to the short cycling error code immediately upon start up. Tested compressor and tested Pressure switches on system. Determined that the Defrost Control Board on the outdoor unit is not working properly. While cycling system, unit began operating. Measured refrigerant charge and tested system. The Defrost Board will need to be replaced or the system may not operate properly. The system is about 15 Years old. Due to age and current issue, replacement of entire system over repair would be recommended.
