Shut Supply Water Supply off to the Water Heater and turn off Gas Supply. Drain Water Heater down and Remove the Outlet Piping at the Water Heater. Remove the Anode Assembly. Install new Anode Assembly. Reconnect Outlet Piping to the Water Heater. Turn Water Supply on to the Water Heater to refill. Turn Gas Supply on and insure water heater relights and is leak free. 11/20/19 installed new anode rode cut to length and checked for leaks . Put water heater back in working order. Anode rod was very bad from water heater installed 11/21/17. Recommended to homeowner that a water softer system be installed to fix the hard water issue. Homeowner does not like the way a water softer makes the water feel.
