When I arrived went downstairs in basement to look at older oil furnace and found copper oil fill and vent lines with duct tape holding to keep them from leaking. Found no oil in the tanks to be able to run oil furnace. Found oil furnace is a 1996. Would not be able to check anything until oil is in tanks to test furnace. After talking to sister in law she wanted to just get the fan running on the oil furnace. Turned thermostat to fan on and it did not come on. Put system into cooling mode and shut off a/c breaker to just get fan to come on. Found thermostat shutting off randomly. Thermostat is old and is not working correctly. Even after vent and fill pipes would be replaced, oil furnace may still not be any good. Recommend replacing system. Heat pump had already had refrigerant added to it and is leaking.
