Performed Precision Heating Tune Up on American Standard Heat Pump System. Replaced the 20x25x1 Air Filter. Inspection of the Air Handler reveals that there is mold/growth forming inside the Air Handler. This was seen on the Blower Wheels blades as well as on the Wiring and on the Controls for the Electric Heat Kit. A dehumidifier is already in operation in the Basement. Other possible solutions to help this issue would be an Air Scrubber/Air Cleaner. Tested Electrical Components on the Outdoor Unit. Measured Refrigerant levels of the system and measured Amp Draw on the Electric Heat Kit. Amp readings were slightly higher than normal on the Heat Kit at 23.4 Amps. Put system in forced Defrost to ensure that it was switching over properly. Refrigerant levels were to standards. The Humidifier was already serviced by the Homeowner and in operation. Age of system is 22 Years Old. Due to the extended age of the system, recommend begin planning for replacement.
