Found that when we arrived , homeowner took us up to the second floor and found black marks on the drywall in the second floor that outlined the wall studding and the joists in the ceilings. ( never have I seen this issue before) told homeowner that talking to more of an expert in building construction.) also took a look inside the furnace and found that after further investigation the heat exchanger is split in at least two areas roughly 3 inches in length. Told the homeowner that the furnace is from 1989 and is un-safe to run and needs to be replaced. Also recommended replacement of the a/c due to age and condition of evaporator coil. Turned off power to furnace and gas so furnace can not be run. Called office to get pricing and availability on equipment. Took a psycrometer reading in the home on the second floor and had 44% relative humidity which is also pretty high. Homeowner is going with the better option for the system replacement.
