Condenser acid wash Showed up early this morning, greeted David and proceeded to the back yard condenser. Removed the disconnect switch and the equipment housing jacket to expose the coils. Showed David the condition. Cleaned and rinsed off the heavy debris on the unit. Applied the acid wash solution throughout the inside and exterior of the coils. Waited the allotted time and rinsed off the unit thoroughly. Allowed the unit to air dry for a few minutes and reassembled the equipment insulating jacket. Reconnected the disconnect switch. Re-installed the exterior property gate and the cinder block knee wall. Customer was very happy with the service. Job completed.
Removed and discarded the old condenser. Furnished and installed new 2 stage 18 seer Amana condenser on a new pad. Performed a nitrogen leak and vacuum test. Both checked out good. Changed the system up with R410A. Rewired the disconnect whip with all low voltage wiring to the control board. Programmed the thermostat to communicate with the new system. Frank offered David a 30% discount for the acid wash needed on another condenser, to be performed at a later date for being a valued customer. Weather was raining and uncooperative today.c
Met with David to discuss the issue. David commented that the unit was running but not producing cold air. Started at the outside condenser and quickly noticed the unit was not running. Pulled the disconnect switch and began testing for power. The unit is receiving 240v. Moved to the condenser junction box and tested the capacitor. The fan side passed and the compressor side failed. David provided me with a working capacitor which I tested on the unit to no avail. A new condenser is strongly recommended given the age and condition of the unit. As per Frank the trip and diagnostic fee has been waived due to the customer committing to the repairs.
Installed the new circuit board to the unit, along with a new thermostat.
