Came out to call for a system not cooling properly. Customer stated that the system wasn’t working at all and that the thermostat was blank. I checked system over and found the furnace not receiving 24 volts through the transformer. Transformer is bad, so I asked customer about power surges, and she stated they had several during the storms recently and had power surges that took out surge protectors. I replaced the transformer former on the system and cycled AC on. System came one with no problems. I recommended AC have a maintenance done to it, because it was very dirty. Customer approved tune up. I washed the condenser coil thoroughly. Filters were changed recently. I inspected the capacitor, contactor, compressor, fan motor and coil condition. I checked amps, temperatures and pressures of condenser. System was running below recommended pressures and temperatures. Recommended system be charged, since they plan on selling the home soon.
