Duct cleaning inspection for home with 2 systems, 1 2 ton in attic servicing bedrooms. 1 5 ton in garage closet servicing remainder of home. Customer has recently remodeled, and wanted to have ducts cleaned. After initial inspection, found multiple issues that I brought up with homeowner. For bedroom system, there is no attic access, so homeowner will have one installed. System also is low on return air, recommend having an additional 8†duct cut in the master suite with 14x24 filter grill. For main home system, manufactured in 2019, the ductwork shows signs of asbestos in the insulation, due to age of the home, the composite of ductwork components and the flexible sleeve below the return plenum. See attached photos. Some ducts have newer insulation flexible ductwork and some have older. The hard pipe components are all suspected to have asbestos elements in the insulation. There is no safe way that I can think of to clean this system, so all I can recommend is to have it replaced.
