Came out to call for a system making a lot of noise. Customer stated that the system was making noises and wanted checked out before it gets warm enough to use it consistently. I checked over the system and found the system operating but the compressor starting to struggle. Compressor megaohms are reading at about 100, which state the compressor terminals are getting weak. I also checked the capacitor, contactor and hard start kit on the system. Capacitor was good, but the contactor and hard start kit were worn out. Seeing that the system is 20+ years old, I went over repair vs replacement options. Discussed with customer about the benefits of the replacement, and that the repair would be a short term fix. Customer wanted to do repairs for now and look over the estimates I gave him to replace the system. I replaced the contactor and hard start kit on AC. Started it up and checked operation. Compressor amps are still high, but within range. Can’t guarantee how long the parts will help
