I arrived for a warranty problem with the filter base. I spoke with the homeowner and found that she can’t get the filter out. I inspected the system and found that the right side of the furnace is about 1.5-2” behind the door frame. To be able to get the filter in and out you have to bend the filter on one corner to get it to go in and out. The filter will seat properly in the filter base. I removed and put back the original filter multiple times. The homeowner wanted to try it for herself. I let her try to install the filter and she installed the filter herself by bending the filter the same way I showed her. She is upset that she has to bend the filter. She wants the furnace to have been installed 2” to the left to help with this filter installation. I offered to have my install crew come back and move the furnace, filter base and evaporator coil over 2” to help with this. I made i known that it will still not clear the door 100%.
