Arrived to AC maintenance. Upon arrival I had both ac’s call for cooling and made my way to the indoor units. Here I checked for proper temp split/blower operation, flushed condensation drains, and replaced air filters with truck stock. On the outdoor units the compressors and fans performed within spec. The capacitor on the main floor unit was performing as it should. Wire leading from the contactor to the capacitor on the upstairs unit however had come loose and was not making proper contact with the capacitor. This caused arching on the capacitor leads and the protective coating around the wire to melt. This capacitor needs replaced along with the wire connected to it. We were not able to reach the customer so I reattached the wire to the capacitor to prevent further arching. Refrigerant temps/pressures showed proper heat transfer.
