Arrived to remedy an inoperable air conditioning system. Upon inspection of the system found that the furnace was moving air and the high side refrigerant line was very hot. Inspected the condenser and found that the coil was heavily coated in dust and debris. Performed diagnostic and found that the capacitor had also failed on the condenser fan circuit. With homeowners approval performed a coil cleaning. Before replacing the capacitor found that one of the power wires from the disconnect to the contactor had gotten hot and was melting the insulation off of the wire. While trying to trim the wire and clean the connection found that the terminal had broken. Replaced the contactor and replaced the capacitor. Applied power to the system and measured any voltage drops and amp draws. Air conditioning system is operating within factory specifications. Air conditioning system is functioning properly at this time.
