I arrived to residence for a no cool for an air conditioner. Customer had replaced the filter and cleaned off his condenser. The motor was over amping and found a weak reading off of fan side of Capacitor. I Replaced at customers approval. System cooling upon departure!

I completed a low heat diagnostic service call on a heat pump. y , I saw the condenser in question frosted/iced up and visually saw it go into defrost. Checked filter - plugged, removed for further testing. Blower was operational, checked amps - 2.32 amps Checked electric heat package amps - 20.09 amps Checked temperatures: R/A 59 degrees - S/A 106 degrees Checked suction temperatures - 180 degrees! Went outside to heat pump to find it was already into another defrost! Turned service disconnect off Found the condenser fan motor has failed and does not free spin Would need to make repair to further troubleshoot system. Quoted repairs. Left heat pump off at service disconnect and system on emergency heat only. Based on the age (26 years old), cost of seen and unseen repairs, not having a warranty, having the outdated refrigerant and lack of efficiency I recommend Quoted replacement system.

I began troubleshooting and noticed a lot of rust inside unit. I noticed the door switch was bypassed and had to be powered off by breaker. I then removed drain lines and blew out lines and condensate trap. Upon reassembling and power on unit unit ran with any fault codes. Upon leaving the furnace was operational.
