On arrival set both units to call for cooling. Measured return temperature, supply temperature, amps, and voltage. Inspected electrical connections, customer replaced filters a day a ago, cleaned condensate drain lines, blower wheels are clean, evaporator coils are clean, and contactors are ok. I explained to the customer the benefits of installing a float switch and an ez trap for unity number 2. Both units are operating normal at this time. Customer paid $119.00 for today’s visit.
I operated both units on heat pump stage heat. I checked pressures against printed data. Both are operating within range of the printed pressures. I checked the electrical wiring and electrical systems, all are within specification. Coils and blowers are clean. Auxiliary heat strips energized in the attic air handler (unit #2.) Unit #1 has lp gas backup heat. The manifold pressure was very low, 8.3. I set to 11.01 iwc. Also unit was moving too much air. I lowered the blower speeds for this system to low for both heating and cooling. This also helped the loud blower sounds. Both units are operating normal. I recommend adding hard start kits to each outdoor unit to protect the compressors. Customer asked for an estimate so I prepared one.
