We came out today due to the switch for the disposal not working. The customer stated that he would bump the switch and the disposal would come on so he had purchased a new switch for the replacement. We invested with wiring and found that a 12/2 power supply is leaving the panel and going to the dishwasher and a power supply is leaving the dishwasher going to a 1900 junction box under the sink. The disposal is wired as a dead end at switch. I informed the homeowners that the wiring dishwasher is exposed and the cover is missing. We also found 14/2 wiring at the disposal switch and this circuit is on a 15 amp breaker with no GFCI protection. We installed the new customer supplied switch for the disposal and supplied and installed a new QO GFCI 15 amp breaker for the disposal and dishwasher circuit. This is on circuit #23 in the panel. After installing we tested the safety feature of the breaker, tested the disposal and the dishwasher.
