My wife and I had a Generac 22 kW standby generator installed on our house 2 ½ years ago (October 2014). It now has a cracked block with only 13.6 hours on it (not even broke in yet). Can you smell LEMON? In addition, we recently found out there’s a problem with the gas plenum inside Generac’s air cooled generator products manufactured prior to 2016 which, as luck would have it, includes ours. Moisture induced rust corrosion could lead to a gas leak; and during generator operation could cause the generator to catch on fire. Hooray, doesn’t THIS just give you a warm fuzzy? How did we hear about this plenum issue? Certainly NOT FROM GENERAC, but rather GENERATOR POWER SYSTEMS located in Spring, TX. Had it not been for Yvonne Fish, Owner taking a proactive approach to inform all their clients about this problem we still wouldn’t know about it. We have yet to receive a letter from GENERAC EXPOSING THEIR PLENUM ISSUE. After careful consideration, we decided to cut our losses and had GENERATOR POWER SYSTEMS install a new KOHLER 20 kW today. She purrs like a kitten, but most importantly, we now have “peace of mind” knowing we have a reliable and dependable generator to supply our power needs should an outage strike. Kudos to GENERATOR POWER SYSTEMS for sending their A-TEAM to get us fixed up (Kory, Jose and Juan)!!
