An original wood shake or wood shingled roof is probably going to be at the end of its useful life. Most insurance companies will not insure a home with a wood shake or shingle roof or the policy will b very expensive. Wood shake and wood shingled homes are prone to being a higher fire risk and these types of roofs should be evaluated and replaced by a licensed roof contractor.
