My review in short is that I could not have worked with a better company to fix my hot water heater issue and damage than Emergency Reconstruction. Everyone was great to work with and explained everything thoroughly from what would happen to the paper work we had to sign. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing their services. For my full review and advice, please see below. What I did before Emergency Reconstruction showed up and my advice: -Turn off the water to your home, this is usually valve located inside your home. Know where this is and shut off the water immediately. If it does not do this, locate the main shutoff at your water meter. You may need a special T-handled bar to shut this one off. Keep it handy. -Turn off the breaker on the breaker panel for the Hot Water heater. Electricity and water are not a good mix. -Find your Homeowner's insurance policy and have it ready. Locate your deductible. -Called my insurance agent and made sure I was following the right protocols. Even if it is after hours and they did. -Went in the crawl space and looked at the damage myself and ensured that it was safe to do so before entering, but minimized my time in there. -Took a lot of still pictures for insurance documentation of the damage. -Used my GoPro camera and got video as well. (Any video camera will do if you have one or use your phone) -Took pictures of the Hot Water Connector hose and kept it for the insurance company. -Write down names of the reps your with, dates, and times. Document as much as possible -Ask if you are unclear as to what the process is. Ask again until you are still not sure. -Waited for the professionals at Emergency Reconstruction to show up. There was nothing else I could do at this point. What Happened: We were trying to get out of town and realized we had no hot water. Checked the hot water heater underneath the house in the crawlspace and it was spewing hot water and steam everywhere. Thankfully, it was just a connector hose that had failed, but the damage was done. All of the insulation, floor joists, and main support beam were soaked by the direct spray or steam all throughout the crawlspace. Cary Plumbing came and fixed it and advised that mold would set in and for me to call Emergency Reconstruction, they had a relationship with them. At first I was skeptical, but I did talk with my insurance agent and he assured me that these were the right people to call and I had to act fast to mitigate any damage that was done. If not, it might more than just replacing insulation and a vapor barrier. It could result in replacing sub floor, carpet, padding, wood flooring, even door frames to name a few. This was a first for me and I followed Tom's (Cary Plumbing) advice. We called Josh with Emergency Reconstruction and they were on their way. The call was placed at around 11 AM and they were here a little after 1 PM. How they have fixed it: Tyronn Hurtt with Emergency Reconstruction showed up to start the process of dealing with the mess that had been created. I work in customer service and can tell you that Tyronn puts you first and knows how to treat people. His calming demeanor in a stressful situation was reassuring and just what we needed. He walked us through everything for what they were going to do and how they were going to do it. He took the time to explain everything in the paperwork that we had to sign in order for him to get going. Then, he and his partner went under out home and went to work removing the insulation and determining what amount of damage was caused. This ended up being around 20 bags. He came back after the insulation was removed and gave us the game plan for what we needed to do to get us back to normal. He laid out the drying process and the spraying they had to do in order to be able to replace the insulation and vapor barrier. He was very transparent about this and this next part is quite important. Over the next few days as this was taking place, I called and spoke with him several times and he continued to come by to check the progress and communicate with me what he was going to do next. Once the drying was complete, we could install the insulation and vapor barrier. While First Reconstruction could not do the re-installation of the insulation and vapor barrier, they employed a third party contractor, Tri-City insulation. Tyronn assured me that it would be done properly and he would be around to ensure it was top quality. I have inspected it myself and it seems to be even better than before. I would highly recommend Emergency Reconstruction to help deal with any damage to your home that is their scope. I had never used them before this occurrence and do not have any other ties to them. However, after working with them I will know who to call if something similar happens to me or someone I know. From the sales rep, Josh, Tyronn with the emergency work, and Anthony Lynn with the repair they have been excellent to work with. They also had a great relationship with my insurance company and local adjuster, which made things even better. I hope this review is helpful to anyone who needs their services.
