Client called us out today to give an estimate on running a new gas line for a new fire logs set she is planning on getting. We ran the new gas line from the small manifold in the garage on other side of home, and in the basement strapped to the ceiling we ran about 50’ of 1/2” trac pipe gas pipe to the far wall, and drilled a hole down into the basement through the brick bottom on fireplace. We had to chisel out small bit of concrete block below which is not affecting anything, to get new gas line up. Added gas shutoff below floor then ran black iron nipple up through the floor per code. Capped that 1/2” line and turned gas back on. Tested for leaks, there are none. Client will let us know when she is ready to have the gas logs installed and hooked up. Left estimate for that. Checked water pressure and it was actually a little low around 40 psi. The water heater is 6 yrs old, and has heavy heavy corrosion on the cold side copper line.
