Call for smell under toilet Met with Chris on site. He stated that the smell occurred yesterday, and was really bad this morning. Everything seems to be flushing fine. Inspected building and restroom. Building restrooms have been relocated at some point in the past. Current restroom has one toilet and one lavatory. Toilet is a residential skirted type toilet, with atypical mounting. Signs of sewage spill around right side. Checked for signs of current backups, and ran sink and flushed toilets constantly over approximately 8-10 minutes. I believe that the toilet sewer line experienced a backup, and the sewage spilled over the wax ring and accumulated under the toilet. These types of toilets are difficult to mount, and can often be installed in a way that compromises the integrity of the wax seal, but won’t show symptoms of leaking until a sewer line backup occurs.
