The first person who came to the house (he was from LaValle), told us the same thing we've heard from your people for years--you need a new furnace--it's "too" big"...he went in the basement and came up with a "filthy" furnace filter--even though your people had been out before--l would have thought that would have been checked then--this wasn't just a couple months dust. He then put a clean filter in ...which should have been done when the service person came out before. Then he went on to say he would suggest duct cleaning. We did agree to that as it is an old house--he said it would be $700.00--we wrote the check out. After he left we thought that was rather high for a little house with five heat vents and one cold air return, so I was going to check prices (I would have put a stop payment on the check). Then a little later Evan came. When we told him what had happened and the price for duct cleaning, he acted quite taken back by the price and quoted us $300.00 less.....so were we about to be "ripped" off or was that first person that "misinformed" on the pricing???...he didn't even check on the vents...as to how many there were!!! I hope this furnace "is the right size" and solves my sister-in-laws problems....she is 89 years old and doesn't need the worries. Also, that a "simple" thermostat was installed. I haven't been back down yet to check it out. Evan was a nice personable young man. Since I wasn't there for the installation I can't do a rating on that.
