Furnace

I would like to see the standard fee to come out be lower.... I think $45 would be fair.... $79.00 is really high

Excellent Company! Great Technicians

Black-Hawk Heating & Cooling has been my go to for heating and air conditioning since we built our house in 2006. They were the contractor for installation and we liked their service. Dan E has been my technician for the past few years and is very personable and knowledgeable about his trade. He comes to service my HVAC year and we catch up on kids and dogs. He also alerts you as to any problems you might have in the future so you can plan for the extra expense unless he recommends you do it right away! I’m very pleased with him. The office gals are great too. Always trying to make an appointment easy for your schedule. Mary Plaisance

Furnace inspection and fix air conditioner

Felt the service was good and techs seemed to know what they were doing. Fixed AC, needed a part and then inspected furnace. Said it needed a new induction motor. I questioned whether it was that bad, or would last a while longer. Said would not. ‘Had them replace it for a cost of about $500+. Took the old motor to a guy that is an expert on motors and he just told me he could find nothing wrong with it. Asked me if it had tripped the code or was squeezing or making other noises. The tech said that it was drawing too much current, so was in failure mode. He said no way, as no burn marks, armature spins freely and no other stress issues, as well as it had not tripped a code indicating a problem. Looks like I will be looking for another company to do my furnace from now on.

Completed AC and gas furnace replacement. Recovered refrigerant from old AC and disconnected it. Disconnected the old furnace and set new furnace on blocks in its place. Reconnected the electric, ductwork and thermostat wiring. Ran a new copper gas line from the natural gas meter to a 4 place manifold, and then hard piped into the furnace. Ran new 2” pvc venting from the furnace to the exterior of the home. Ran a new drain line for the furnace and AC to the floor drain. Installed a new T6 WiFi thermostat. Flushed AC lineset and reconnected to the new condenser and coil. Pressurized the lineset with approximately 325 psi nitrogen to test for leaks. We will return in the spring to finish the start up procedure on the AC unit when it is warmer. Run tested the furnace but will still need a technician start up. Thank you for choosing Black-Haak Heating. Please take a moment to fill out our online survey. Thanks, Craig.

Performed furnace clean and tune; inspected the exhaust and intake PVC ensuring all connections were secured, removed and cleaned the burners along with the flame sensor, cycled the system on and performed a combustion test verifying no CO in the airstream, as well as cycled on the humidifier found that the water valve was stuck closed due to the age and cost to repair I recommend replacing the humidifier. This system is currently operating normal and heating at 48 degrees at this time. Job complete

Was here for a furnace cleaning cleaning. Performed preferred customer furnace cleaning. Completed furnace cleaning form. Found noisy inducer motor bearings. The motor amps are still good. There’s a slight rusting going on in one of the heat exchanger tubes. Pulled out the blower motor. Found a lot of dirt getting past the filter. Cleaned out the bottom cabinet and went over some air quality products. Recommend continue it to get the furnace checked each year to monitor the inducer and the heat exchanger. The furnace is running normally at this time.

Came out to replace the UV bulbs. After replacing, I noticed the bulbs still wouldn’t stay lit. I cycled the furnace to see if they would turn on with the fan to no success. Per customer request, I put the old bulb back in. We will check for warranty on the unit and call the customer to let them know or quote a price if warranty has expired.
