HVAC Service Checkup

John Murphy arrive for appointment at 8am. He asked questions about how furnace was keeping up with cold weather. John checked furnace and found wire that had vibrated loose. He repaired wire and improved efficiency of furnace. John checked heatpump and found no problems. I would refer John to anyone for HVAC service.

Tom seemed very disgruntled about providing service at my home. He didn't know much about the Nest Thermostat I had purchased or about my previous thermostat. He even asked me why I purchased the Nest in a condescending tone. This was not his business.

First floor system: I found sequencer 1 stuck on and sequencer 2 stuck open. Replaced sequencers. Tested all elements. I replaced defrost control board for heat pump. Tested operation. Tested defrost cycle. Ambient: 47. Suction: 60. head pressure: 215. Checked temperature rise. 13. Found system is low on type 410A Freon!! Leak searched and found Freon leak at indoor coil! Large leak in middle of left side of coil. Suggestions: need to check on cost and availability of replacement coil for first floor air handler. Heat pump system is about 11 years old. Recommend replacing system.

I turned off water to the house and installed new supply valve for humidifier to Cold water line. Turn water to house back on. Replaced solenoid valves under parts warranty for both humidifiers. Serviced humidifiers for winter and replaced water panels. Replaced drain tubing for both humidifiers. Installed 10VA transformers for both systems to enable humidifiers to run during blower operation. Tested water flow and a drain.

Customer stated humidifier would go on and off again in about 1 minute intervals. I turned on humidifier at thermostat. Tested solenoid current: 0.22A. I checked humidifier operation and found working okay at this time. But, I found i-comfort thermostat humidity reading (<15%) was off by 40 percentage points! I replaced under parts warranty. Set parameters. Set wi-fi connection. Thermostat now reading 55% humidity.

I found no voltage coming out to disconnect box. Found circuit breaker tripped! Reset breaker and tested cooling operation. Ambient: 85. Liquid line: 89. Suction line: 62. Ramping stage: 100%. Compressor: 9.6/9.6/9.6 A, 230V. Indoor wetbulb: 67. Condenser fan: .95 A. Test a breaker and found bad internal connection causing breaker to overheat. I replaced circuit breaker.
