Arrived to a system evaluation. Customer states that the two stage Amana heat pump will shut down randomly. Previous technician found a "04" locked rotor code and installed a hard start kit to help upon start up. Customer performed hard reset on the system before I arrived. No codes present. Refrigerant levels, system static pressure and all amp draws are acceptable. All electrical connections are tight. Could not find a reason for failure. Performed update on system via the CoolCloud app. System running and cooling the home upon departure.
Cooling tune up performed today on a two year old Lennox gas furnace with a straight cool condenser. All electrical connections are tight with no corrosion. ECM blower motor is acceptable. Blower wheel and evaporator coil are clean. Compressor and condenser fan motor are acceptable. Refrigerant levels are in range. Outdoor unit was washed and waxed. Suggest adding a compressor saver to the outside unit to help with the efficiency and reliability of the system upon start up.
Spoke to customer on the phone. Customer is getting a complimentary year of membership.
Upon arrival tech was shown a video of what was going on tech turned thermostat down to get the system to make the noise In the video you can hear the reversing valve click on and off repeatedly tech had the system run for 30 minutes tech check all electrical connections. Tech was getting a constant 24v call all the way from the thermostat to the outdoor tech check the incoming voltage to the outdoor control board to the leaving voltage out of the board. Tech has the system satisfy and turned it down lower the reversing valve isn't making the noise at this time. The system is cooling at this time
Customer has system off upon arrival, showed video of outdoor clicking rapidly. Video was of the reversing valve slide sliding back and forth. Check reversing valve plug, wire, voltage and connections at thermostat and board. Found no issues and reset system 3 times with no replication of sound. Left system in Cool mode
2015 4t carrier hp attic horizontal. Expired manufacturer warranty. Filters changed x2. History of drain blockage. Float switch is in emergency pan and not inline with the primary condensate line. Blower wheel has slight buildup. UV system has done a decent job on maintaining cleanliness. Evaporator coil has heavy rust and refrigerant molecules detected indicating a leak of refrigerant. Heavy biological growth present inside supply plenum where duct board is. Supply plenum design is questionable. No disconnect at the outdoor unit. Compressor inrush amperage exceeds manufacturer specifications. Refrigerant charge is below manufacturer specifications. Dual run, customer supplied capacitor fan side is above manufacturer tolerance. Homeowner was by my side, I took the time to educate, explain and address the discrepancies I discovered. Due to the age, performance and safety of the system, homeowner agreed to discuss with a CA 5/6/25 @4p about replacement. We spoke about keeping the exist
Performed plumbing tune up. Water heater is 10 years old. All other plumbing is in good working order Customer checked on questionaire that back room is hot in summer and cool in winter. Stated that they would have it checked during hvac tune up
Upon arrival tech talked to home owner and started super tune up tech found everything to be up to standards at this time. All electrical components are tight
Heatpump tripped on locked rotor code. Found Dual run cap was withing range, also found System did not have a compressor saver. Recommended adding compressor saver to system to prevent high inrush amps and locked rotor codes
Submitted estimate to replace service riser that was torn down by storm. Offered membership to offset the cost a bit. Informed customer we could get it done for them and reconnected this evening. No go at this time.
Technician found that the system was not hooked up with straight electric heat. Kit technician hooked it up. System is working properly at this moment.
Upon arrival tech changed blower motor and turned the unit on the unit didn’t go out on high pressure. Unit is running at tech standards at this point in time
