Let the homeowner know I had to do an evaluation and find the immediate source of the problem. at the outdoor unit, I noticed an issue with refrigerant. Started checking the compressor and reversing valves and found that the compressor was not compressing the refrigerant even though it’s running. Diagnosed as a mechanical failure with compressor. homeowner said they need time to think about repair or replacement.

Upon arrival for tuneup homeowner requested that I begin on outdoor units because of her pets being inside the home so I began outside. Homeowner mentioned downstairs started getting hotter and going above thermostat ask just last night. I told her I would look into it Upon arrival to units I noticed downstairs system only had fan running I could not hear compressor so I flipped the disconnect and checked the capacitor, system had 2 caps Both capacitors were out of tolerance but the fan cap was only slightly out and still functional. Brought this to homeowner and she had a new cap that she provided that I installed, let her know other capacitor was still out of tolerance but it is still functional. Continuing with the tune up I checked the capacitor on the upstairs unit and it was in tolerance I removed condenser fans and placed them aside in order to clean both units from inside out then I rinsed off the sides I then checked inrush and running amps on fan and compressor and downstair
