Service Call Platinum Client- water is leaking from evaporator coil drain pans for both units. They are both heavily rusted due to age (1994). Unit on the back right side was low on refrigerant, added 2 lbs of r22 to the system to get correct levels. The system still leaking water. Evaporator coil and pans would need to be replaced to eliminate water leaks. I strongly advise against repair due to cost and age of equipment. The customer is going on vacation and will decide on getting an estimate for replacement after they return
Service Call Platinum Client Arrived to find compressor not starting found failed capacitor that caused the wire to the compressor to burn up. After replacing the capacitor checked the amp draw of the unit. The compressor was within spec but the fan motor was pulling high amps. A system is an R22 unit. I checked refrigerant levels and they appeared to be operating within spec. Discussed considering a replacement in the future.
Service Call: searched for leak on package unit. No evidence of leak was found as it’s been too long out of refrigeration to expose. Advised customer that we must return 2-3 weeks to check for specific leak location. Added 3lbs 410.
Service Call Platinum Client The system is 17 years old, and the overall condition is inferior. The sequencer shorted out, causing the heat strip to stay on when it should have been off. Identified burnt electrical wiring and safety device. Refer to photos. These parts were likely damaged by the excessive water draining off the coil when the drain plugged up. The evaporator coil itself is in terrible condition and is likely where the refrigerant has been leaking out. Corrosion, in combination with age, has eaten away the aluminum and would need to be replaced. My professional opinion is not to have this system repaired. The overall condition, coupled with the age and the fact that it is still running on R22 refrigerant, leaves us with the very high cost of repair with little to no assurance or guarantee that the customer will get adequate life from the rest of the system. We can only warranty the parts installed; everything else is old, worn out, and will have no warranty or guar
