I completed a diagnostic. On arrival found outdoor unit not coming on due to a high pressure switch that had tripped. I reset the switch and unit came on. I checked refrigerant charge. System is running at a 29° superheat so it is a little bit low on Freon, but I did not find any condition present that should be causing the high pressure switch to trip. (Head Pressure was 238) The area around the condenser has recently been trimmed of heavy vegetation and the coil is clean. After talking to property owner this was all trimmed after the unit quit working so blockage of the condenser coil was probably the cause for the high-pressure switch tripping. Compressor amps are high but system is cooling the house OK. Customer is not even living in the house so not really interested in replacement at this time. Understands the unit is not working as good as it once did but says that it will serve the purpose for now.
I completed a diagnostic. On arrival I found the compressor not running outside due to a failed capacitor. After speaking to the customer, the customer decided to replace the unit.
I cleaned the flame sensor in 1982 Lennox 3 way pilot system. I recommend replacing system due to flame rollout at startup and age of system.
Found 1994 Moncrief AC capacitor had failed, customer wanted to replace capacitor to get temporary cooling and wanted me to provide an estimate for full system replacement which I did. Replaced Compressor-Motor Surge Capacitor. Unit cooling at time of departure.
Performed our Special Pre-Season Tune-Up and Safety Check on a 1999 Carrier Gas Furnace. System running as expected at this time.
