I performed a diagnostic service call on a heat pump and and the system is running efferently, the only problem I discovered was that there is a error message that came up, told customer if that comes up more often than not we would need to run new cable to the thermostat.
I performed a diagnostic service call on an older system that has been freezing up. I checked the blower capacitor and it was slightly weak but not weak enough to where it should have made a difference. After I got the unit running I went over a few different options with the owner over the phone and provided a new estimate per customers request.
Diagnosed the problem as an issue in the wiring between furnace and thermostat. I rewired thermostat and also found the flame sensor dirty, cleaned it. System functioning upon departure.
The main issue I found was that this furnace did not have the correct amount of duct work to run efficiently, on top of the furnace being oversized for the square footage of the house. Customer is currently experiencing overheating issues and this is why. I gave the customer an estimate on what it would cost to replace the system and get a properly sized furnace installed as well as running more duct work.
found drain plugged. Blew out and flushed drain. Draining good now. Instructed customer on care and preventative maintenance.
1982 GE Furnace indoor blower is very dirty and blower capacitor is slightly week. 2005 Goodman Heat Pump outdoor unit also has a weak capacitor on the compressor side. Fan is also very noisy and drawing elevated amps. Spoke to him about some replacement options and he is not ready for an estimate at this time. Customer did not want to replace either weak capacitor at this time.
Replace Trane thermostatic expansion valve (TXV ) & suction line temperature sensor for outdoor unit.
Found 2015 Trane Heat Pump unit to be overcharged. Adjusted charge down to a 12° sub cool. Even after doing this my superheat is still up over 20° and running around 22° even though it should be running around 14°. TXV at indoor coil does not seem to be functioning properly, and temperature split is poor. Will replace suction line and TXV for indoor coil.
Added 2 pounds of refrigerant on Goodman Heat Pump. The system is 16 years old. Unit operational at departure.
Found Carrier AC low on refrigerant. Added 2 pounds of refrigerant. System is cooling properly at this time.
Diagnostic Service Call on 2002 Ruud Air Conditioner. Service work performed: Here for a no cool on 18 yr old AC system. System has been freezing up recently. On arrival I checked filter and it is clean. Made sure both indoor blowers were coming on.(twinned furnaces) Checked refrigerant charge and found it slightly under charged. Running at a 40° superheat. Added 2 lbs. 2 oz. of R22 to achieve a 18° superheat. Advised customer there is likely a leak in the system. Just wanted to charge it up for now.
Diagnostic call perfomed on a 1993 Lennox Heat Pump. Upon arrival I found compressor not running, only the condenser fan is running. The compressor is broken, and customer has opted to have the system replaced.
Returning to program a Trane system. All is operating properly at this time.
