I completed a diagnostic. Here for a 12 year old air conditioner that is not working properly. Customer explained to me that she keeps thermostat set on 72° in lately it has not been running below 74. I explained to her that with extreme temperatures lately it is going to be harder to reach certain temperatures. Explained the general rule of approximately 20° lower inside than the outdoor temperature. Checked capacitor and found it slightly low on the compressor side so went ahead and replaced this at customers request. Superheat is 13 degrees. System is running on my departure.
I had a job continuation to install a 6x14 sidewall register in the side of the return drop.
I had a job continuation to remove part of the return drop and color that connects the return drop to the return Trunkline. I also put in new sheet metal, reconnected the 10 inch return to the return air drop, and sealed everything with duct seal.
I had a job continuation on a Carrier gas furnace to asses issues with the install. I got measurements to have the ductwork fixed the way the customer would like it, and will come back to redo the return drop.
I performed a tune up on a Five Star "Infinity Series" 80% 2 Stage Variable Speed 70,000 BTU Gas Furnace. I found that the filter was dirty and everything else was within manufacturers specifications. System is on and operational at this time.
